MapSports Ben Lovett has agreed to terms with the South Sydney Rabbitohs until the end of the 2024 season. From Parkes in Central West NSW, Lovett first caught the eye of the famous Cardinal and Myrtle when he travelled down for a trial against the Bulldogs in 2018 as a young 17 year old.
Lovett went on to represent NSW Country U18’s in 2019 who travelled to the UK to play against the England Community Lions Under 18’s, where he performed admirably in their wins, playing backrow, lock and in the centres.
After returning to Australia, he relocated to Sydney to be able to access more elite training with the Bunnies in their junior pathways program.
The remaining COVID19 seasons have seen Ben maintain his focus and progress to the point where the Rabbitohs were keen to extend him out until the end of 2024.
When discussing the offer Lovett said, “I’m really excited to have this opportunity finalised. I have moved to Sydney to progress through the ranks and this extension gives me the time to continue my development at a club I have a very high opinion of. I have loved my time here so far and going to work everyday with a common cause with some great blokes is a dream come true.”
South Sydney’s Head of Football described Lovett as a “throwback” type player, who is work ethic driven and someone who is looking to improve everyday, even if it is 1%. The type of player that builds trust with the staff and his peers quickly and deeply.
Everyone at MapSports wishes Ben the best for the next couple of years.
